Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of irreversible blindness in the world. 

It is a name given to a group of eye diseases that affect the optic nerve at the back of the eye. It is mostly related to a build up of pressure in your eye - but can affect individuals with normal eye pressures too! Glaucoma is often referred to as a ‘tunnel vision’ or ‘silent thief of sight’ since it begins to reduce your peripheral vision painlessly and gradually.

 

At Kimber Optical, we do glaucoma screening using advanced technology to assess your optic nerve health. Some other tests that we might conduct may include measuring your eye pressures, performing a visual field test, measuring your corneal thickness and assessing your eye’s drainage angle (Yes we have a drain in our eye). Early detection of glaucoma is the key to preserving good vision.
