Ocular Emergencies

Red or pink eye from infection, trauma or injury

Eye injuries can happen anywhere and at any time. Usually when we least expect it! 

 

Fear not Kimber Optical will always be on standby during our clinical hours to assist with anything eye related.

 

Some common eye injuries include:

  • Corneal abrasion: This is when there has been a cut or a scratch on your cornea (front part of your eyes) from a foreign body material such as metal, fingernail or dirt. Symptoms typically include pain, watery eyes and blurred vision

  • Chemical burn: This can happen when a chemical, acid or other irritant enters the eye. Cleaning products sprayed into the eye or other aerosols can be common.

  • Eye infection: This can present in many ways such as red/pink eyes, eyelid swelling, eye irritation. 

 

Other ocular emergencies involving the back of the eye include sudden flashes/floaters, abrupt vision loss and ocular pain.
